It’s been hot out lately so make sure you are staying cool and hydrated. There are many events scheduled as summer flits before our eyes. Read along to see what you should attend this week! We have a lot of live music and fun stuff right here in Platte County!

Summer Movie Series week 7!

$2 Summer Movie at 10am on Wednesday, July 29 at Center7. This week, watch ‘SpongeBob’!!

Coming up on Wednesday: Kids Crafternoon 

It’s a fun-filled, hands-on activity right in Frankfort Square. Kids (ages 8-12) can paint their own flowerpot and plant a succulent to take home! The fun starts at 2pm but you do need to register! Follow this link: secure.rec1.com/NE/columbus-parks-recreation/catalog so you don’t miss out!

Cycling for wings…

It’s time to get your bicycle out and meet at Lake Esther (Lake by the YMCA) for Wednesday Night Wing Ride at 5:30pm! You can ride up to Hwy 14 Brewery for some amazing wings and refreshments! Exercise, cold drinks and delicious wings – let’s gooo!

Coffee, Cops, Conversation…

Join the Columbus Police Department at the Picket Fence for coffee and conversation at 8am on Thursday, July 30. Ask questions, learn about their work and connect with our local law enforcement. 

Shiny Cars & Live Music

Get ready for some classic cars, live music with Dr Ron Ernst and, of course, FUN! On Thursday from 4-8pm, stop by the Prairie Village Retirement Center and enjoy Leon on Wheels and Donut NV! Ohhh and if you have a shiny ride, bring it on over!

Listen for the Beat and enjoy the eats…

We are heading into the final week of the Beats & Eats series. On Thursday, July 30 at 7pm in Frankfort Square. Westside Sunset brings their funky style to the stage as you get to enjoy the homestyle hispanic flavor of Aurora’s Food Truck!  

On Saturday, listen to the softer side of rock with a side of R&B mixed with soul as Unfinished Business takes the stage. Plus, grab some amazing Indian/Mediterrian cuisine from Shaara Halal Eats!

Judy’s Concessions will be there both nights!

More Music Options for this Friday & Saturday

DJ Flip will also be cranking the tunes at Micek’s starting at 9pm on Friday (31st) night!

Jimmy Little is singing at Prime 10 on Friday, July 31 at 5pm.

Déjà vu Band will be live at Shenanigans starting at 8pm on Saturday!

Jason “Gordo” Gordon is singing live at the Elk’s Country Club on Saturday, 7-10pm.

The ponies are back…

Bring the family, grab some food from Brew Brothers and enjoy an evening of LIVE Horse Racing! Gates open at 4pm and live racing starts 5 on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, gates open at 1pm with racing at 2pm. Go and make some family memories!

Poker and Tractors…

Meet at the Pulaski Hall in Duncan for the Annual Tractor Drive and Poker Run at 10:30am on Sat. Aug 1st. Check in starts at 9am! A small entry fee includes your poker hand and your tractor or side-by-side. The route is about 25 miles and ends at Shaime’s Bar! Prizes and fun so don’t miss this!

Hunting season is around the corner…

It’s time to get that Hunter Safety Class in. On Saturday (8am-2pm), go to the Columbus Rifle Club (23584 83rd St – near Lakeview). If you can volunteer, that would be appreciated as well. Please call Neal (402-910-8780) or Charlie (402-276-3086) for more information. 

Yard & bar games benefit!

Think of the Putt-Putt Bar crawl but throw in fun games like beer pong and horse balls! There will be silent auctions and raffles available at Shenanigans Bar from 11:30am-7pm. Start Crawling at noon. Stops include washers at Micek’s, Frisbee at Shenanigans, horseshoes at CK Bar & Grill, Corn Hole at The Oasis, Beer Pong at Westbrook and horse balls at Ski’s Bar & Grill. Enjoy food from 4:30 on for a free will donation.

Matt Moseman and Chris Wemhoff will be providing some dinner tunes from 5 ’til 7. From 7-8pm, winners will be announced and then the party starts!! All proceeds benefit Allen Speicher!

VBS: Illumination Station

Immanuel Lutheran Church starts their Vacation Bible School on Sunday, August 2 from 6-8pm at the Family Life Center. This is for Preschool to 6th grade and older kids can join in by volunteering as a Crew Leader Assistant!  Free will offering for dinner each night (arrive at 5:30pm for meal). It’s a right hook… left jab kind of an event…

This Saturday and Sunday, Ag Park is the place to be! The 2026 Buffalo Bill Brawl (Largest Boxing Tournament in Nebraska!) will be in full action! You will see seom tough, hard hitting locals and out of state talent right here in Columbus!

There are 4-man/3-man brackets, show bouts and developmental matches, so there is something for every level! Doors open at 11am on both days with a small entry fee! Message the Sweatbox Boxing Club Facebook Page or text 402-563-0497 for more information!

The Nebraskans for the Arts will be at the Library on Monday, August 3 at 10am for a Coffee, Listen & Learn session. Ask questions, learn about the arts and more!

National Night Out…

is Tuesday, August 4 starting at 6pm at Frankfort Square. Bring your family, friends, and neighbors for an evening of community fun! Join our public service partners including our police officers, first responders and more for the ultimate block party! Hosted by the Columbus Police Department, play games, enjoy the food and have some fun!

Have you picked up your “Ticket To Play Ticket?!

It’s pretty easy – stop by the business, receive a punch and receive a prize! Completed tickets can be submitted at Pizza Ranch. In September, all submitted tickets will be included into a larger grand prize drawing, so you will want to participate!
