On July 4th, get ready for a parade, Kiddie tractor pull, lunch, and demo derby! Platte Center, located just north of Columbus, Nebraska is known for their Fourth of July Parade and demolition derby. The community comes together annually to celebrate their love for Independence Day and their town.

The 4th of July Parade has been a staple in the community for decades. People from all over the state celebrate in Platte Center. In years past, the parade has hosted themes, float and antique vehicle contests, a variety of animals, and so much more. The parade is fun for all ages! Children enjoy picking up the candy on the side of the road while the adults are entertained with the fun entries! The parade is the perfect kick off to an eventful day! An annual Kiddie Tractor Pull, a Luncheon hosted by the Platte Center Rescue Squad, and a Demolition Derby hosted by the Platte Center Rural Fire Department make for a fun family event.

“This year the Platte Center Activities Committee is hosting its first annual 4th of July House Decorating Contest. We decided to start this fun activity to get all residents to participate in the patriotic festivities. Guests will have fun watching the parade and then get to drive around and check out the decorated homes,” stated  Nicolette Coble, Platte Center Activities Committee Member.

With strong community pride, the town has a deep commitment to a wholesome lifestyle and would love to host visitors for their event.

Visit Platte Center this fourth of July and experience this small town’s charm and love for Independence Day!
